Note9 Fingerprint scanner not responding

The fingerprint scanner has stopped working all of a sudden.

The error message received on the lock screen- "The fingerprint scanner is not responding. Try again later."

The error message received in Settings -> Biometrics and Security -> Fingerprints : "Fingerprint sensor not working. If this keeps happening, restart your phone."

Solutions already tried-

1. Cleared cache partition

2. Reset settings

3. Factory reset

Anyone else ever faced such problem? Just want to make sure if this is a hardware issue. The phone wasn't exposed to water/dust (although it is IP68)

mine got resolved in a couple of days...maybe its a software bug

I have the same issue. Driving me mad. I readd my fingerprints and it happens again. Not impressed with Samsung considering the handset cost.

Mine got fixed after disabling the fingerprint option and restarting the phone.

I am having the same problem.  I updated all apps., turned the fingerprint sensor off and back on, restarted my phone several times and it is still not working.  This is stupid...

Same problem with me. 

I just got it fix.

First, i remove all the registered fingerprint.

Then i reboot the phone.

Then i register a new fingerprint and just work like usual.

Mine has been like this for almost a year now. At first it used to work after few consecutive restarts, but not anymore. I tried the cashe tricks and every suggested solution online with no luck. 

I will try to flash the ROM hopefully this will fix it, if it didn't I will try a custom ROM.

Note: there is no hardware problem because the sensor test passes successfully.

Delete one of the registered fingerprint.
