Galaxy Note 9 messaging app hanging.

I recently updated my Note 9 with the latest update (which includes September 2018 security patches) and whenever I open the Messaging app for sms it hangs for 10-40 secs and only then I can use it. Anyone else experienced this. I have already tried safe mode and it happens there as well.
