it is advised as sometimes old cache files contain some virus. To do connet your a50 to m51 switch a50 off then press power and volume up button recovery screen will come then select wipe cache partion and then reboot for m51 you will have connet it to pc and do the same steps .

its not like necessary but its good to improve the device performance and to clean junk files which causes slowness in ur phone after update
