I request Samsung to continue supporting Galaxy M32 5G for years to come. Please bring it under your 4 years of OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates program. I say this because the brand new Galaxy A15 5G which is essentially M32 5G, has been launched with Android 14 and is slated to get upgrades to Android 18. Even if Samsung drops the Android 18 idea for this device, Android 16 is surely going to be released for A15 5G at the bare minimum. Galaxy M32 5G was launched on September 02, 2021 so supporting till end of 2026 is surely possible. If Android 15 is asking too much, at least provide Android 14! If OS upgrades is too much an ask, then at least keep providing security patches till end of 2026. Please don't abandon this powerful beast of a device that is Galaxy M32 5G!
Here is why I call M32 G5 and A15 5G "essentially the same" -
It all boils down the chipset powering the two smartphones. So let's talk about the SOC powering these two phones. Dimensity 720 (7 nm) powers the 2021 Galaxy M32 5G and Dimensity 6100+ (6nm) powers the 2024 Galaxy A15 5G.
Both Dimensity 720 and Dimensity 6100+ have the share the same internal architecture - 2x 2 GHz – Cortex-A76 and 6x 2 GHz – Cortex-A55 (ARMv8.2-A). The only difference is Dimensity 6100+ being a mere 200 MHz faster for being 1 nm smaller compared to Dimensity 720. The performance difference is negligible.
They are both powered by 2133 MHz LPDDR4X 17.07 Gbit/s RAM.
Dimensity 720 can capture and play video at 4K at 30 FPS but Dimensity 6100+ can't! Despite being 3 years newer than Dimensity 720, Dimensity 6100+ can only capture and play 1080p 30 FPS.
Dimensity 720 has a more powerful GPU (0.3264 TFLOPS) compared to Dimensity 6100+ (0.2432 TFLOPS) despite being 3 years older.
As we can observe above, they are essentially the same SOC. Dimensity 720 even beats 6100+ in some cases. This proves that Dimensity 720 is totally capable for further OS upgrades.
I repeat, Galaxy M32 5G was launched on September 02, 2021 so supporting till end of 2026 is surely possible. If Android 15 is asking too much, at least provide Android 14! If OS upgrades is too much an ask, then at least keep providing security patches till end of 2026. Please don't abandon this powerful beast of a device that is Galaxy M32 5G!
Well, can't comment on Samsung making phone slower as my device runs like a breeze 3 years later. Would love to have Android 14 on it.
If nothing, I want security patches at the very least. There is no reason Samsung can't keep releasing monthly security patches for M32 5G. They can surely release an a security patch once every two months or even once a quarter!
you wouldn't even notice or matter cause the security patches Samsung releases are so minor interms of severity that rarely a CVE vulnerability would cause any security issue And even when there is a major security flaw in some of their model then Samsung provides specific update for that chipset
