Try clearing cache from recovery. You can find YouTube videos on how to do that. It should help in some cases.

Yes, multi window performance is very bad. I don't use the camera that much, so I don't know about it. Most of the time I tried using multi-window with a video running, after a time the phone force closes the video because of overheating. This happens in picture-in-picture mode too. This phone gets overheated quite easily.
