Does anyone know what's the use of this screen that inadvertently comes up when the phone is locked? Is there a shortcut that brings this up?

Yes. In lock screen just tap on the clock or time. Then this panel opens

Useful at times 😅 last week, for dance preparation i handed over my phone to my friend, whenever phone locked he came to me to unlock it, and then I told him just to swipe down on clock on lock screen to play the song, move forward or backward in the same track, and don't come to me again & again to unlock and in the end of prep he asked me which smartphone is this 😁
