Battery performance decreased / Battery draining fast

I have galaxy m51 which has 7000mah but it is not at all performing as such a big battery.. battery drains very fast also phone heats up in a little bit of gaming .. it does used to happen before .. i searched on YouTube and found a video which showed a method claiming this would fix the issue ..but i am not sure if i should use the method or not .. is it safe for my new phone ?
