Galaxy JThanks for the long awaited Oreo update Samsung.
I had posted far too many posts on the update issue that I had to remove some of them as they were getting way too repetitive. The same pesky habit that had caused me to check for updates in the middle of the night actually helped me yesterday.
I completed updating to the Oreo version.
So here are my first impressions:
Cons:
1. The first thing that jumps out is the removal of the drop down menu when we holded down on the app icons. Both app info and clear badges are removed.
This actually irritated the hell out of me as I used to force stop a lot of apps quickly by this method rather than going to the settings, then into apps section, and finally after scrolling down an endless list, picking the app and then force stopping it.
To all others who are frustrated by this, the only solution is to press the recent apps button and hold down on the left corner (app icon/symbol) which will then display an info mark to the right. Press this. Not the most ideal situation, but that will have to do until they bring it back (if they do).
2. You guys still haven't removed the bug that causes the screenshots and whatsapp photos to be viewed inside the camera app's recent photo section.
3. Still no inbuilt reading mode/blue light filter. Even low end phones are providing this feature nowadays
4. I have been testing the battery for a few days now and have been reading a lot of responses from other users. The battery drain is seriously visible. Especially during gaming the battery clearly burns itself. This needs to be addressed as soon as possible.
5. Gaming has been seriously hampered by the battery issues as a 15 minute gaming session drains into 8 percent of battery life.(not accurate) Heating issues are also starting to show itself. And I never faced these before in this phone
Pros:
1. The responsiveness and UI seem to have become smoother.
2. The clock app recieved a major upgrade which reflects even in the lock screen
3. Notification settings have been vastly improved
4. Staying in portrait or landscape mode after turning off screen rotation is a blessing
5.Being able to move the copy and paste box around makes it a lot easier to edit while typing.
These are just some of the things that I noticed and felt.
