I hope this message finds you well.

I recently purchased a new phone and installed WhatsApp. However, I am facing an issue with the app’s size on my internal storage. Each day, the app's size keeps increasing significantly—today, it has reached 30GB. While WhatsApp’s own storage settings show around 150MB in usage, the app continues to consume a large amount of space on my device.

I have tried clearing cache, managing storage through WhatsApp settings, and even deleting old media, but the issue persists. This constant increase in storage usage is causing significant stress and affecting my phone’s overall performance.

Could you please assist in resolving this issue or provide guidance on how to prevent WhatsApp from unnecessarily consuming such large amounts of storage?

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Hey please check the WhatsApp Database Folder by going to File Manager > Android > Media > com.whatsapp > WhatsApp > Databases and look for large backup files. You can delete the older ones and keep only the latest backup. Next, go to File Manager > Internal Storage > WhatsApp and check the Media folder for extra or duplicate files that WhatsApp is not showing.

Another solution is to turn off auto-backup in Wasap plus Settings > Chats > Chat Backup, as too many backups may be using storage. You should also check Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Storage on your phone to see if Android is miscalculating the app size. If the issue continues, try uninstalling WhatsApp, restarting your phone, and reinstalling it to remove any hidden files.
