I am using Galaxy F42 5G suddenly side finger print stop working. Even it's not showing any fingerprint icon also. Earlier it was working fine but after software update its suddenly stop working. Even I am unable to reset or disable it from biometric settings. It's showing message like
FINGERPRINT SENSOR NOT WORKING
If these keeps happening, restart your phone.

I restarted phone so many times but problem yet not resolved. Enclosing the screenshot.

Dear Samsung Customer,

Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!

We would request you to kindly perform the following steps to resolve your issue.

Fingerprint sensor not working
If your fingerprints fail to unlock the phone, and you are asked to type in the lock screen password, follow the steps to resolve the problem:

Have you check your fingers:
Ensure that your fingers are clean and dry.
Ensure that your fingers are clean and dry.

Note:
1: If the skin on your fingertips is peeling or cracking, or your fingerprint is difficult to capture, the fingerprint ID on your phone may not work.
2: If your fingerprints fail to unlock the phone while the phone is recharging, remove it from the charger and try again. If you are charging the phone with a charger and data cable from other brands when you use fingerprints to unlock the phone, they may interfere with the fingerprint sensor and cause the recognition to fail.

Clean the fingerprint sensor:
Clean the fingerprint sensor with a soft cloth. Make sure the fingerprint sensor is dry and free from any debris that may cause the sensor to be unable to recognize fingerprint.

Remove fingerprint and set up fingerprint again:
Remove the current fingerprint and set up fingerprint again. When you touch the sensor to set up fingerprint, make sure you set the entire fingerprint, including the outer area of your fingertip. Setting the entire fingerprint area enables successful fingerprint recognition with any grip.

Please follow the below steps:
How to remove Fingerprint:
Step1: Navigate to apps screen and tap on Settings.
Step2: Tap on Biometrics and Security.
Step3: Tap on Fingerprints.
Step4: Tap on Fingerprint1.
Step5: Tap on Remove.
Step6: Tap on Remove again to confirm.

How to Set up Fingerprint:
Step1: Navigate to apps screen and tap on Settings.
Step2: Tap on Biometrics and Security.
Step3: Tap on Fingerprints.
Step4: Tap on Add Fingerprint.
Step5: Scan your fingerprint.
Step6: Place your finger on the sensor, then lift it off when you feel a vibration.
Step7: Tap on Continue.
Step8: Reposition your finger each time to capture the edge of your fingerprint.
Step9: Tap on Done.
Step10: Fingerprint added successfully.
