After long waiting for an update in my Samsung A70 I moved to iOS (iPhone 11 128Gb) because of Samsung's delay to providing the OTA updates. Samsung  brand name is actually ruin android itself  bylosing their market share and customers. Samsung's new strategy is quiet strange, they wil publish a press release related to upcoming updates and spread rumors about their update. So customers will stop complaining about regular update. After some months they will release the update. As usual the customers will forget about the delay.

Samsung is making lots of new mobiles will identical names. In the initial stage this wil boost up the market share. But within 5 years they will loose about 60% of the market share and some other brands will take their place for sure. Apple is atleast giving 7+ years of update. Resale value of apple is too high compare to Samsung. With cheap plastic built and aluminium colour fading plastic rims with no customer support Samsung is cheating the buyers. Once they will find this and everyone will leave this brand that's for sure.

Both Samsung and Apple has its ups and downs. After switching to Apple you will realize that Apple provides major upgrades once in two years compared to Samsung's updates that bring major UI changes twice a year. You mentioned Samsung has cheap plastic and aluminum. This is not a proper comparison because you are comparing a low budget Samsung phone with high end Apple device. You can never compare A70 with an iPhone 11 which is almost thrice the price. If you conpare s21 ultra with iPhone 12 you will know that Samsung defeats the competition in every way. Talking about resale value, what do you expect to get from selling a phone after 3 years of use. The resale value is low due to a higher number of device circulation in the market .Samsung makes multiple devices to meet the needs of every customer. Samsung remains one of the best value for money device that you can purchase. If you prefer Apple that sells their products with an 80%profit margin, it is totally upto you.
All the best with your new device.

I am not comparing android and apple brother. don't think that. I am comparing Samsung and Apple. other competitors like one plus, xiomi are promising updates and their updates are really fast. you are saying that iPhone 11 and s21?? wait a minutes, Samsung will push s22,s23,s24 etc within 1 year and the importance of s 21 will fade away. then the updates will be too slow or even no updates.

regarding resale value, I was a long term samsung user, from beda to A70. I know how they care us in past years. recently they go behind money.

regarding value for money.... if you buy a Samsung s9 in 2016 and apple 8 you will understand the difference. apple still pushing latest updates and as a customer he can keep the device for a very long period of time.

That is where you are wrong brother.. I never mentioned the word android above. It's all about samsung and apple. I have a huge family who use lot of different phone and know this for a fact that slow updates in samsung and other brands are only widely noticed in GCC region. If you use your phone in India or any other country, it's comparatively faster and I think it has to do with some software restrictions in GCC region. You said the importance fades away with introducing of each phone. Guess what.. its a marketing strategy by samsung as well as Apple to get new customers. Samsung guarantees 3 years on major updates and security updates. If you look closely, you will know that you cannot use a mobile device for more than three years. If you are using Apple device the battery will run out in 2.5 years and you will either have to change the battery or buy a new phone which is only a little bit more expensive than the the battery. Why do you need 5 years of updates for a phone you will use only for 3 years. Also these continuous updates in Apple cause heating and battery issues because these updates are too good for old software. Brother.. please understand that I am not arguing with you. I have used I phone, samsung and many other brands. I just want to out in these facts because I don't want anyone who reads you thread to get wrong information. Now that they have the ups and down , they can choose accordingly.

dear alphazor,

the price of a apple battery is not too costly. ok checked on internet. I have a Samsung A70 2018, the display is broken I checked the price and its equal to a new phone. battery of apple is really cheap please check on internet. regarding 5 year usage of mobile. I know lots of people who still using their apple 5s but you can't find more people who are using S6. that's the difference

Hi,

Please note that the expected time for Galaxy A70 devices to receive One UI 3.0 update will be in May 2021.

You will receive an automatic update notice once it is available.

Also, kindly be advised that software update schedule can be found from Samsung Members App under Notice section on your mobile.

My thoughts: As long as you're happy with your device, regardless of make, whether Apple or Samsung, Kudos.

I use an A70 myself & before buying, mid-cycle, I realized that if I really want faster or more recent updates, then I either have to buy a flagship, or upgrade my phone every year for 3 years, which equates the flagship price.

I do also understand your point re Apple updates. Apple's product & customer service approaches are different.

Before buying my A70, I did my research. I knew exactly what I was getting into. I expected that Android 11, or 12, might be my last OS upgrade. I expected slow monthly updates, if at all.

Updates aside, the A70 meets all my needs. These needs are far greater than updates/upgrades.

I'm at peace.
