Hey friends, recently the google app has been running in the background FULL TIME and eating up battery. I have checked my earlier battery stat screen shots and it was NEVER the case then. I am noticing this only after recent updates.
Nb: I have put the app to sleep, but to no avail.

Maybe because of the search widget? Or google assistant.

No use man... I'm also concerned about google and google play services... They are always consuming power without any actual use.. I've even tried disabling it, still sometimes could see it consuming power.. I've also sent feedback about it.. but as always, dumb help center..

Previously it was taking 8-9% per day
So .. I stopped using it for some days
Cleared data
Put it into sleep
Restricted background usage both battery and data
Then it normal now as you can see 3 days 9 hour 2.6%SmartSelect_20211216-191939_Device care_118480_1639662580.jpg

I think the Google discover keeps refreshing and all so it keeps going on in the background. You can try to force stop it or restrict background usage by settings >> apps >> Google >> battery >> turning off background usage. U can also put it to sleep

I also updated the Google have to the latest version. I am not facing any issues. Do you have the Google search widget? That might me the issue. Try force stopping the app.Screenshot_20211216-161507_Digital Wellbeing_6073_1639651507.jpg
