Why am i getting less screen on time on A55 when i use battery protection?
I use basic battery protection while charging and the phone charges to 100% and im getting only 5hrs of sot.
When i turn off battery protection and charge my phone to 100% im easily getting a 7.5hrs of screen on time.
Is this normal?
Can you please explain?

Normal due to battery protection only allows max 85 % in really, so you get less sot.

100% IS OF 0 TO 85,

WITHOUT BATTERY PROTECTION.

ITS REAL 0 TO 100%

So be happy 😊

But 0-85% is with maximum battery protection.I use basic battery protection which allows to charge to 100%.
Are you saying that both are same?

Battery Protection= limit charging to 85,

Power Saver = you can charge to 100 %

Adaptive battery is not working in power saving mode and you get less power backup in battery saver mode.

The difference in screen-on time (SoT) on your Samsung A55 with and without battery protection is noticeable. possible reasons:

*Battery Protection Feature*

The battery protection feature, also known as "Adaptive Battery" or "Battery Care," is designed to prolong the lifespan of your battery. When enabled, it:

1. *Limits charging to 85%*: To reduce wear on the battery, the feature might limit charging to 85% capacity. This can result in shorter screen-on times.
2. *Slows down charging*: Battery protection might slow down charging speeds to prevent overheating and reduce battery degradation.
3. *Adjusts power management*: The feature might adjust power management settings to prioritize battery longevity over performance.

*Impact on Screen-On Time*

When you enable battery protection, the feature's limitations on charging capacity and speed might result in:

1. *Reduced battery capacity*: With battery protection enabled, your device might not be able to utilize the full 100% capacity, leading to shorter screen-on times.
2. *Increased power consumption*: The feature's adjustments to power management settings might cause your device to consume more power, reducing screen-on times.

*Normal Behavior?*

While the battery protection feature is designed to prolong battery lifespan, the significant difference in screen-on times you're experiencing (5 hours vs. 7.5 hours) might not be entirely normal.

It's possible that the feature is being overly aggressive in limiting battery capacity and adjusting power management settings, resulting in shorter screen-on times.

*Recommendations*

1. *Disable battery protection*: If you prioritize longer screen-on times, consider disabling battery protection.
2. *Adjust battery protection settings*: Check if your device allows you to adjust the battery protection settings. You might be able to find a balance between battery longevity and screen-on times.
3. *Monitor battery health*: Keep an eye on your battery health and adjust your usage habits accordingly.
4. *Consider a battery calibration*: If you've recently replaced your battery or experienced unusual battery drain, consider calibrating your battery.

By understanding the battery protection feature's impact on your device and adjusting the settings accordingly, you can find a balance between battery longevity and screen-on times.

Dear Samsung Member,

Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!

As per your query, we want to inform you that the Protect protection features optimize battery lifespan and performance while ensuring safety. These features include an adaptive battery, battery saver mode, power management, fast and wireless charging, and overheat protection.

By default, the battery protection function in Samsung is turned off, but when enabled, it limits the battery charging up to 85% to improve the overall lifespan of the battery. If you prefer to charge your battery up to 100%, you can turn off the battery protection function.

You can get more information about the battery protection mode by using the given link.
