Just noticed there's a setting to show the battery percentage without it being inside the battery icon.

Settings - Notifications - Status Bar - Show Battery Background. It's enabled by default so disable it and decide how you prefer it.

I also noticed that the number inside the icon has a smaller font and less 'bold' making it less visible compared to One UI 8; wondering if that was intentional to shift people into using this feature or whether it's something they didn't get around to fixing. 🤔

It is not there for the Samsung Galaxy A17. It might be the same for other Galaxy A series. 🧐

One UI 8.5 hasn't been released for the A17 yet so only then will the option be available.

"Update the battery icon ? No, give them the option to remove the icon if they don't like the pill shaped we gave them". Another F you from Samsung.

😂 Now that I think about it, there were unofficial reports on Samsung not knowing what to do with the pill after the public voiced it's disdain for it being just another Apple inspired hijack and you're right; instead of making it better(or improving the One UI 7 version) they just used your train of thought instead.

Maybe we'll get a GoodLock module for it later 😅

Now what would that mean for them ? They couldn't figure it out now they're just leaving it to us ? 😂

They have a tendency to remove settings and revive them through GL like with the navigation buttons, so I'm guessing that's the plan if any. 🤔

Sorry wrong use of terminology. There was a navigation gesture setting that allowed users to swipe our home, back and recent menu buttons from the bottom-up instead of just using the normal swipe gestures. They used the NavStar module to bring that setting back after backlash.
