Why do people keep on comparing the update timing for Samsung vs Apple?

• Apple released 4 phones this year and Samsung released 20+ phones.
• Apple controls IOS entirely as they made it and Samsung waits for Google to release the next Android version before they do so. Mind you Samsung still adds their own features on top of stock Android.
• Due to Samsung having so much phones in different price categories the cheapers phones have less features and updates take longer for the A series when compared to the S series because of higher tier phones being more of a priority.
•There are a lot less feature disparities between iPhones so an extra reason for the updates to be received on the same day.
• Network carriers also add their apps and features for Android phones which makes the updates take even longer (that's part of the reason why Android phones come bloated with lots of apps and iPhones don't)

I am not trying to justify why it takes long. I am just explaining why it takes long even though I don't agree with any point that I listed.

(I know I could have missed a few points)

I understand your point but I don't think it justify how Samsung do things. As much as Apple releases about four phones a year when they issued an update all their phones that qualify for updates received it at the same time and currently if you count from IPhone 10 that's more than 15 models of phones that received update at the same time.

With Samsung they release an update to three latest flagship S23 and worse you might receive it after weeks if not moth if your country is one of the unlucky countries.

For me it would have been understandable if they were to release for example S21, 22, 23 at the same time for all the countries then move to Fold and Flips and then move to A series.

With all countries receiving the update at the same time.

What frustrate me more than anything is seeing people from other countries enjoying the latest update while I'm stuck with the old one but we are using the same model.

You bring up a good point. I would like to point back to my last bullet point and I think that plays a big with regards to what you said. Apple does not release their updates through their carriers but Samsung does. I'm sure there is some kimd of an incentive for Samsung to do so. For the consumer there is no benefit to this and the network carriers make the update take even longer while adding their own rubbish.

That is definitely not the full story but at least part of it.

I get your point but I will go back to Apple again because the same issue that you are raising also happens with them. Their phone are not the same globally they have different varients but still do things differently. I hate using Apple as an example but they are the ones who set the bar so high when it comes to updates and unfortunately now we expect everybody to do the same.

Having just joined Samsung from Apple iphone 14 to S22 Ultra, I find the software update management by Samsung lagging way behind apple. The phone S22Ultra is very good, but support from Samsung is pathetic. I kept checking for the update daily since 15 November 2023
