As per my understanding samsung creates invisible picture and video backup files which are used in the gallery app to retain the original image and allow for revert feature. These can be cleared up during update process or by going to the device care...

I mostly keep my phone on dnd as that turns off all the notification sounds and only get notified when there is an incoming call
