I have been using the S24 Ultra for about 20 days and I am experiencing rapid battery drain, with screen-on time ranging from 4 to 6 hours despite heavy optimization.

I have tried all the fixes available online, but nothing seems to resolve the issue. When I check the battery usage, the major culprit is contact storage. I have restricted contact storage and removed a few accounts to streamline my contacts (I have around 7000 contacts). I have also removed permissions for the Galaxy Watch and Wearable app for contacts, cleared the cache partition in recovery mode, and turned off account sync. I have done everything I could find as a solution.

The only reason I upgraded from the Note 20 Ultra was for the improved battery life of the Exynos model. However, I am now facing the same battery problems with the latest and greatest S24 Ultra. I thought that the Snapdragon processor would make a difference, but Samsung is letting me down again. I have been a loyal Samsung phone user since the Note 2 was launched, and my primary criteria in choosing a phone has always been battery life. After extensive research, I chose the S24 Ultra.

People on different forums are praising the S24 Ultra and getting 2 days of battery life. I am wondering if this is a problem with my device or if there is something I am doing wrong.

I used Samsung Switch to move my data from the Note 20 Ultra to the S24 Ultra. I use a Samsung Watch 4 Classic LTE with the phone and Buds 2 Pro for calls.

Please help me improve my battery life. And Samsung, if there is a bug, please address the issue. After spending so much money and time on a phone, this is not what I expected.

Enable "use separate contacts list" under dual messenger settings, and it will vanish. It's a bug related to dual messenger which Samsung has failed to figure out since a year or so...

I can confirm that this is the solution... Contacts storage with just 0.1% battery usage instead of 7 - 9%!!!

However if you have this enabled on the Dual Messenger settings, you will lose the contact details on the second account WhatsApp. At least it was what happened in my case... Quite annoying. SAMSUNG, please fix this.

Any solution for this? Contacts storage is the app using the most battery on my S24 💀

I'm facing the same issue with my S24 ultra. The contact storage has drained 25% of my battery in just one day, and I can definitely tell when it's happening because the phone gets noticeably warmer. I've already suspended access to my contacts for WhatsApp, Contacts app, Gmail, etc. This temporarily solved the problem, but then I couldn't see my WhatsApp contacts attached to the photos, which essentially made the phone useless for me. Turning on power saving mode did help a bit, and there were even days when the issue didn't show up on the battery usage chart. However, after a week or two, the phone heats up, the battery drains, and the problem returns.

I had high hopes for the latest update to fix this issue, but after installing it, nothing changed. Initially, I thought that the problem might be due to my phone being made in Brazil, but it seems that's not the case.

Same issue here, For the last month or two battery is drained by the contact storage.

Tried pretty much every fix on the Internet short of Hard resetting to a brand new phone with no backup what so ever.

I have the same issue, my S24U was able to last whole day with 30, 40% left last time until this Storage Contact problem. Now the battery is so poor. Don't know how to get rid of this. Tried to remove the Dual Messenger, problem still there. Phone always hot.

Don't think this is Samsung issue, seeing online OnePlus users also complain since 2018, seems like no solution from Google.

I managed to fixed mine and now the contacts storage battery usage is not even 1%.

I will explain in detail.

(Before performing the below steps please make sure to sync your contacts to your Google account and back up your calling history to Samsung cloud)

1. Switch off Google drive back by going to Accounts and Backup> Backup Data (Under Google Drive heading)

2. Clear Contacts Storage app's data and cache. (But before doing that make sure you backup your calling history on Samsung cloud because you'll need to restore it after clearing the cache and data.)

3. Resync your contacts by just using Google sync and never turn on the Google backup again.

P. S. I'm using WhatsApp dual messenger along with WhatsApp business so there's total 3 WhatsApp accounts active on my phone and I'm not using separate contacts list for either of them and still the contacts storage usage is less than 1%

Please share your experience whether this works for you or not.
