WhatsApp will not work on Android devices running on Kit Kat and below. Also WhatsApp will not work on iPhone running on iOS 15 for below. This is set back for old users who are still using these devices and their almost 5% people that still use such devices. Meta gave the reason as the growing ecosystem of the app and AI capabilities that these old devices are not capable Also security is a big reason for this action.

Meta must be finding difficult to maintain multiple ecosystems. The percentage of older firmware and OS is miniscule not warranting a dedicated server. Besides older systems are vulnerable to hacking with sophisticated technology and can pose grave security threat.
Finally Meta has to survive and earn, profit. 😊
