wifi direct is to transfer file/videos/music from one mobile to another all you need to do is first enable wifi on both the device then click on wifi direct on both, then its auto scan device then click on any one and accept from other device, after connect go to that files or videos you want to share and in sharing option choose wifi direct
in simple it's data transport technology..... as an example if you print something by a printer then it can be used to established peer to peer connection through air .then you can directly transfer photo to that printer by air
