So, we all are familiar with the ES Techno YouTube channel. His videos are very helpful to Samsung users. I too recommend his videos to many. However, recently I saw a video in which he says that the dark mode is bad for our eyes. But, this claim doesn't have any scientific backing or proof. Let's see what the studies say.

According to studies to date, there is no concrete evidence to say that dark mode is either good or bad. For eg: Many suggest dark mode at night. But, people find it natural to read dark texts on white background. Because in the nature we are not used to bright things standing out from dark background. I personally find it difficult to read white texts on black screen. However, there are people who find the opposite comfortable.

Similarly, even during day time there is no proven harms on eyes caused by dark mode. And the vice versa is true too. The dilation of pupil resulted by reading bright texts on dark screens during day time is too minimal to cause any damage. On the contrary, many find it difficult to read bright texts in a dark environment, especially people with issues like Astigmatism.

If anything, a couple of studies states that dark mode during day time can affect your mood because there are very less blue rays emitted while using dark mode, to which our body is used to during day time. Nevertheless, these studies too don't have anything which says that dark mode is bad for eyesight.

So, in summary, it's all about individual comforts and preferences, until there is some scientific evidence and mass studies to prove the opposite. Therefore, if you all are finding it comfortable to use dark mode, feel free to continue. And, if you're finding it easy to use light mode, continue to do so. If you are among the people who find either of these modes tough on your eyes, you would've already found it so.

Another thing is about the battery savings as a result of using dark mode. This is another myth. The savings by using dark mode is very minimal unless, you are someone who uses the phone at full brightness.

These links will help you to get an idea.

Nb: If there are some scientific studies which proves this wrong, pls let me know. I will be glad to accept it. Because at the end of the day it's all about getting right knowledge and helping the community, right?
No hate on ES Techno channel. Just stating my views on this topic.

Yes, and I was just debating to know your opinion on this. As you're the one i have come across who had done extensive reading about this. As you said you're open to discussing it, As I had a genuine doubt about why they didn't take sunlight or a tubelights into factor. And my sincere apologies to you, If that sounded arrogant I was just being sarcastic.

Oh, that initial comment was sarcastic? Anyone who reads that will understand the tone.
I don't consider that a good opening to a "discussion ".
Anyway, your point on blue light and mood is rather relevant and I too may have to read the Harvard paper on this to know why they came to that conclusion. Tbh, I didn't think much of that particular piece of info because that's not the main point of my writing. I included that as a counter-argument, which is needed in an essay. Also, I thought Harvard can't be bringing a paper without some relevant studies.

Nb: I read the above comments only after posting this. I don't want to start again, as the matter seemed to be settled. I too am sorry if my replies offended you in any way. Sometimes I am over reactivate. 🙏😊

Hey sid, I'm yashwanth or you can call me yash. No actually you're right. We don't know how one reacts because we can't see each other emotions in text. I'm sorry, I binge watched a Netflix series yesterday and I got carried away with their way of conversing. I'm sorry. And you didn't overreact, I hadn't neither been a professional nor a decent. Let's be friends. And hey we didn't consider this factor. We all used to dark mode for 10 years in school lol, our blackboards. I think deep down psychologically dark mode is nostalgic 😅. We can do research on students, taking black boards as phone's dark mode replacement.

Ah, friends after a debate is a great thing. I am Sidharth, you can call me Sid, or whatever is easy for you 😂.
That blackboard eg is actually a very relevant thing that these people seemed to ignore or miss. May be because these are Western researches and they moved away from blackboard long ago.
Nb: that binge thing happened to me too. We tend to speak like the characters and forget that those around us haven't watched it. 😜
