Going through the forums, I see comments that are quite disrespectful of Chinese brands, not because of political reasons, but the general belief carried forward from previous decades that Chinese products are substandard and of poor quality.

This isn't true for smartphones. In fact, this isn't true for most products today. Today, the more apt classification is VFM (value for money) products and overpriced products. Both are of good quality, but the ones owned by companies in the west are just overpriced, not necessarily better quality.

On the smartphone front, all smartphones competing in the same segment have (almost) identical hardware components inside. Each type of component used are sourced from the same manufacturer. For example, the processor comes from Qualcomm or Mediatek, display comes from Samsung or LG, camera from Sony or Samsung, etc.

Smartphones from Chinese brands like OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, iQOO, Xiaomi, etc. areexcellent, value for money products. They are in no way inferior to products made from Samsung.

The only differentiating factor is the software. Some of these Chinese brands have ads built into their software, and Samsung too is guilty of doing that. This is to make up for money they lose due to aggressive pricing. That can be taken care of using a firewall. But they are no more bloated than Samsung's OneUI.

Samsung's OneUI is the same bloat it once used to be with TouchWiz branding, but that's another topic I'll write about in a separate post.

Unless you have actually used phones of Chinese brands, AND, unless you can actually demonstrate why they are of substandard quality, you should just STOP making hollow statements like that.

In short,DON'T MAKE TALL CLAIMS ABOUT ANYTHING IF YOU HAVE NO FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE.

Cheers!

Why only BA? Atleast they have some sort of an obligation to support the brand. There are many moving around with 'Expert' tags who effectively render that word meaningless. I can only feel sorry for them.

Bro..Hardware is not the exactly Same but more or less equivalent in Same price range from Chinese & the other ones...The Big & real difference is in terms of Software only, thrse Chinese Brands are very much Compromised in terms of Security.. This is my Personal Experience also..You take any brand (One**us, V*v*, Red*m*, Op*o, M*, Xio*i, Real** etc.)..When your Handset is in lock Condition it shouldn't be "Power Off"/ (Wifi, Sound Profile, Bluetooth, Aeroplane mode Status shouldn't be changed without Unlocking the Phone, nor should the Volume Button works in lock Condition..I mean as soon as you try for these options your handset first asks to unlock your device else you are not able to change the original Status.. This is what is available with Sams**g, L*, thats why i like both of these brands & not sure bt might be also available with Nok*a also...Till 2020 i have checked personally with most of Chinese brands missing on these Security Parameters..One can stole your phone and "power off/Make silent/Enable Aeroplane mode" without unlocking & put it in the pocket & you can't search even if the person is standing very close to you...Here Samsung Knox really amazing 👌👌Screenshot_20220520-072902_One UI Home_21658_1653011942.jpgScreenshot_20220520-072832_One UI Home_21657_1653011912.jpg

Not sure about all brands, but some of them have addressed that. On a OnePlus phone, for example, you have the option to disable Quick Settings and Power Menu on lock screen, which is even better than Samsung OneUI where some of the buttons are accessible without the pin/ password.

Yes..you can disable quick settings bt still you can Power off locked Oneplus device without unlocking..This i have checked in Series 7 (including pro.) after that not sure... Furthermore chinese firms were selling Many Handsets with Same IMEI no.

Power Menu can be disabled too as i mentioned previously. In that case, you can only RESTART the phone, but not power off. All phones can be force restarted without pin.

As with Vivo episode, hopefully things are in order now.

Ha ha, even I liked this feature in Samsung. But do you know you still can reboot a Samsung and go into recovery without entering lock screen pin. Try pressing side key and volume down for 7 - 10 seconds.
All you need is now power cable and laptop.

Small correction, you can put into mute without unlocking in my A71. Not sure about S series.
