Samsung’s long-awaited One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S25 series was widely expected to roll out today, April 30, at least in South Korea. But as the day comes to an end with no update in sight, it’s clear Samsung has delayed the release. Lack of clear communication is adding to the frustration for users.

Galaxy S25’s expected One UI 8.5 rollout misses its window

Over the past several days, multiple sources, including Samsung’s own customer support staff, pointed to today as the start of the stable One UI 8.5 rollout for the Galaxy S25 series in Korea. That built strong expectations among users, especially those who haven’t been able to participate in the beta program (Samsung restricts beta testing to select markets).

However, it’s now late in Samsung’s home country, and the update hasn’t appeared. Unless the company surprises everyone by launching in the Western markets first, the planned timeline has clearly slipped. Social media chatter suggests that the delay is linked to a public holiday on Friday, May 1 (Labor Day). Samsung allegedly wants staff available in case something goes wrong during rollout.

Needless to say, that explanation doesn’t sit well with many in the community. The Galaxy S25 series has gone through an extensive beta cycle spanning more than four months, with no less than ten beta builds released. By most accounts, recent beta versions have been stable, polished, and largely free of major issues. Given that level of testing, concerns about last-minute critical bugs seem unlikely, at least from an outside perspective.

No communication from Samsung

The bigger issue here isn’t just the delay; it’s the lack of clear communication. Samsung hasn’t officially acknowledged the missed rollout window or provided an updated timeline. For users who have been waiting through a lengthy beta program, that silence can be more frustrating than the delay itself.

We will now have to wait and see if Samsung will still go ahead with the rollout later this week or shift the release to next week. In the worst case, the stable One UI 8.5 rollout for the Galaxy S25 lineup could see a longer delay. Especially if last-minute issues are indeed being addressed. We will let you know when we have more information.
