Are you experiencing random lags, stutters or app crashes in your phone? It might be because of corrupt temporary system files stored in the cache partition of your device. Let me show you how to clear the cache partition and potentially improve performance.
(This guide will not work if the performance issues are caused by other reasons like random third-party apps, storage being almost full, corrupt SD Card, etc.)
WARNING: DO NOT MESS AROUND IN THE RECOVERY AND DO NOT SELECT AN OPTION THAT IS NOT FAMILIAR. YOU CAN FACE PERMANENT DATA LOSS OR EVEN BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
Step 1: Power off your phone.
Step 2: Connect your phone to a laptop/PC using a USB cable and make sure the laptop/PC is turned on. You should see the charging screen.
Step 3: Press and hold thePOWER and VOLUME UP buttons till you reach “Android Recovery”.
Step 4: Use theVOLUME DOWN button till you reach “Wipe Cache Partition”. Click thePOWER BUTTON to select.
Step 5: Use theVOLUME DOWN button again to reach “Yes” and click thePOWER BUTTON to select.
You should now see something similar to:
-- Wiping cache…
-- Wiping cache…
Formatting /cache…
Cache wipe complete.
Cache wipe complete.
Step 6: You should see the “Reboot system now” option already highlighted. Click thePOWER BUTTON to select.
That’s it! Your phone should restart and you should notice a slight improvement in performance. Clear cache every 6 months to maintain device health.
