It’s a lake of ideas in our community. But the good thing is, we are all ears for more suggestions to craft your experience better. Let’s make the Galaxy community the most interesting place to hang out. Bring in your recommendations through the Innovation Lab. 

While Samsung DeX and Second Screen are at the frontier of making work flow effortless.

Here’s what you should know before you proceed with your entries.

Samsung DeX (Desktop Experience), a software tool that enhances your experience by offering the

following capabilities:

1. Productivity: Transforms your Galaxy device¹ into a PC, with a desktop-like experience.
2. Connectivity: Supports wireless connection compatible with TVs and monitors², as well as wired connections via DeX cable or HDMI cable.
3. Multitasking: Allows you to multitask, run multiple apps, and utilize productivity apps like Powerpoint³.
4. Control: You can control DeX with your Galaxy device¹ as a touchpad or on-screen keyboard.
5. Keyboards and mice: Supports wired, wireless, and Bluetooth USB keyboards and mice.
6. Modes: Offers two modes - New DeX and Classic DeX. New DeX maintains the tablet's⁴ UI, while Classic DeX provides a desktop environment.

¹DeX is available on Galaxy S9, S10, S20, S21, S22, S23, S24, Note8, Note9, Note10, Note20, Z Fold3, Z Fold4, and Z Fold5, Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 series phones

²Samsung DeX wireless connection is supported with TVs that support Android smart phone screen mirroring(Miracast) only.

On the other hand, Samsung's Second Screen allows you to extend your computer screen to your

Galaxy tablet enabling the following:

1. Duplicate the computer screen on the tablet
2. Control the computer from the tablet
3. Use the tablet as an extended monitor
4. Switch between duplicate or extended display modes
5. Allow mouse, keyboard, touch, and pen input from the tablet
6. Pin or unpin the toolbar for easy access
7. Disconnect the connection when finished

This feature is compatible with Galaxy Tab S7, S8, and S9 running One UI 3.1 or later and select PCs with Wireless Display running Windows 10 version 2004 or higher.

CLASSIC DEX:

- make multiple windows of microsoft word, excel, powerpoint, etc and other web browsers like on windows computers. on web browsers allow dragging of one tab from one window to another

- Better app support. we need pro apps like ProCreate, Adobe LumaFusion, Photoshop (full photoshop), coding app

- faster loading times

- better latency on Wireless DeX

- more dense apps category layout

oh yeah most importantly, MULTIPLE MONITOR SUPPORT (up to 2 on midrange tablets, up to 3 on flagship tablets and phones)

1) Add linux support in form of virtual machine running using AVF(android virtualization framework), so it will be isolated from android and so we can customize it, for example running our own images, maybe even windows for arm.
2) Without customization of linux image at least do not delete linux kernel options needed for running docker. Because now you can use it for development purposes, but your only option for running something is in termux where running docker is not possible without customizing android kernel(enabling sysvipc, cgroups and some other options) and unlocking bootloader for flashing it.
3) Adding linux support basically will allow to run windows only software through wine/proton.
4) Add possibility to start dex on inner screen of fold phones. Because there is enough of screen and with external keyboard and mouse this is perfectly usable.

Please support using the headphones connected to TV and Samsung TV camera while using Dex for Google Meet, MS Teams or any other apps that require Camera access.

Please add high resolutions and refresh rates for Dex as well as dual monitor support. These two features are talked about a lot on the Dex subreddit.

Thank you, Samsung, listening to customer feedback will help you gain a lot more traction in the community, take constructive critics, and let's hope Samsung can replace all of our needs!

1. The toolbar for apps should be small and you can make it medium-sized when mouse/spen hovers over it.
2. The taskbar should have an option to be small as well just like in Windows.
3. Using a mouse should also feel so much more better than what it is currently now.
4. More keyboard shortcuts/shortcuts that people are familiar with (for the love of god, please! If you're going to advertise this as a computer-like experience might as well make it like one)
5. A clipboard UI just like in Windows (Windows + V) and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, screenshots should be automatically copied to the clipboard.
6. Screenshots automatically copied to clipboard, and rather not in Samsung's Keyboard app.
7. Seamless way to transfer files between one app to another app (drag & drop etc)
8. Bring back Linux on DeX.
9. And why is there 2 different ways to manage all your opened apps? One being half-done, other being fully done, Alt + Tab should give you the full capability to close completely/kill any app.
10. Make DeX feel more intuitive for tablets, tablets are touch screen, pls take a Oneplus like approach (OpenCanvas multitasking which is built for tablets, people can buy touch screen laptops if they really want one, this is a Samsung Tab) or something similar in your own way.
11. Bring somethings from GoodLock directly into Labs feature or in the main settings for DeX.
12. Ability to take advantage of the entire resolution if you're using DeX on an external monitor & the monitor's refresh rate considering S24 can output 120 Hz content whilst only being able to produce 60Hz content on an external screen.
13. Ability to use emojis without having to tamper around with Samsung keyboard, and ability to change your preferred keyboard on Samsung DeX - can't use Gboard.

There is a bug in Dex. Cursor doesn't change back to mouse pointer. For eg. When I try to search something inside Udemy, i click on the search bar, it opens keyboard in my phone. Once type the string and hit search, the mouse pointer still remains as a cursor

Hello,

First of all, thank you for asking the community. Samsung DeX is indeed a great idea. But as mentioned here several times, it would be nice if the software support was better. And the only way to get there is to make DeX usable on every Samsung Android device, so that the distribution and the need for developers to invest in Samsung DeX increases. I'm thinking particularly of Serif, Microsoft and Steam here. However, I can recommend the office package from Softmaker.de, which runs quite well under DeX.

What do I specifically want?

1. a real mode for two screens. I.e. on the internal screen of my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 I would also like Samsung DeX to run when an external monitor is connected and not the tablet interface. I would also like to be able to move windows back and forth as required.

2. when using Samsung DeX and 5G I constantly have an overheating problem, would be good if this could be fixed.

3. more setting options, such as changing the dock, the shortcuts, network, that would be really great.

4. widgets on the Samsung DeX desktop - that would be a dream.

5. please don't drop DeX Classic - I can't do anything with New DeX, it just lacks the really wonderful desktop experience.
