Innovation Lab #38: Share your ideas with us on Phone, Messages, Contacts!

Our community is brimming with ideas through which we can make your Galaxy experience better! Share your suggestions directly with our teams through Innovation Lab.

This week, we would like to look into the smart phone's most basic applications: Phone, Messages and Contacts. Please let us know your views on the usability and competitiveness of the applications against third party apps or even against those of competitors.

So, this week the topics are:

1. Phone: Feedback on usability and suggestions on latest updates.

2. Messages: Feedback on usability and suggestions on latest updates.

3. Contacts: Feedback on usability and suggestions on latest updates and VOCs on how these apps interact with each other.

All you need to do is:

1. Create a post detailing your idea/suggestion
2. Include illustrations/diagrams/images or any detail you feel will help us understand it better

In Messages
If we are able to select a part of a text by long pressing the text it will be useful.
Now we have to long press then a popup opens and only entire text will get selected.
By allowing long press and select a part of text directly you are avoiding two steps.

Like Gmail if you provide swipe to delete or archive the message it will be useful.
Now it is not able to block the unwanted messages, like blocking unwanted spam call please provide option to block the spam messages directly from received messages

If you sync Facebook or whatsapp contact images with your phone app it will be easy to identify the callers at initial glimpse itself.

Agreed. This was a feature on my first Android one, the HTC Desire Z. That would pull Facebook status and photos into contacts and show them when the person called. It also had integrated birthdays with Facebook so you'd see an icon if it's the caller's birthday. Not sure why that doesn't exist anymore.

Each time we open the pro mode, the settings need to be tweaked.


Can you please provide an option to save few custom modes in pro mode (at least for still photography) like some other OEMs?

1. Phone - Can we have bigger caller photo ? Or at least a few options to choose dimensions of caller photo.
2. Messages - Ability to block the businesses who don't use phone number but have those text names like AX-AIRTEL etc.
