Do Updating makes your phone slow?

I have recently come across many post,articles stating that Samsung make phone slow when you update that to new OneUi version. 
I have seen user claiming that when resetting the phone and removing all latest updates the phone become normal no lagging, battery last long, etc. [And the phone user was using was 4 to 5 years old.]

What dou you guys think about it, does your phone get slow after updating to new version and using it for 4 to 5 years?
