Both Face Unlock and Fingerprint sensor are automatically disabled after a set period of time or if the device has been idle for a certain amount of time.
When that happens, you'll have to key in your pin/ pattern/ password to unlock your phone.
That's why when you wake up in the morning, your face unlock doesn't work the 1st time you unlock your phone (assuming you slept longer than 4 hours).
