Tech TalkWe use batteries in everything - our electronics, appliances, and even in remote control cars. But have you ever stopped to think how batteries work and what’s inside of them? Aha! Now the gears are turning, right? The truth is many of your Samsung products, like your phone, PC, and even your vacuum use lithium-ion batteries! Once you understand how great these batteries are, you won’t want to use any other kind.
Learn about Lithium
Yes, this kind of battery is made from Lithium ions. As for what a “Lithium ion” is exactly… it’s hard to explain without diving into a chemistry book. But here’s how they power a battery. When the battery is being charged (by a charger), the ions move in one direction. When the battery is supplying power to something, the ions move in the opposite direction. In doing so, they trigger a series of reactions and create an electrical charge. That’s the gist of it, but if you want to learn more, you should seek out an engineer. Or just search the internet!
Advantages of Lithium-Ion Batteries
In elementary school, you got a really cool toy for your birthday. When the batteries died after a couple weeks, you threw them out and got new ones. That’s the problem with conventional batteries – they don’t last. But that’s what makes lithium-ion batteries so great – they are rechargeable! They also hold charges very well and pack a lot of energy into a small space. That’s why your PC and other Samsung devices last for hours and hours. And you don’t have to replace their batteries, like, ever.
Lithium-ion batteries are also more lightweight compared to other batteries. Yep, they are both powerful AND portable. Your POWERbot wouldn’t be able to zip around while it’s cleaning if it had to carry a bunch of extra bulk. This type of battery is also better for the environment since you won’t be constantly throwing them out. But that doesn’t mean you can just dump them anywhere – that’s a big no-no.
Batteries are pretty amazing, right? They may look like small blocks of metal, but all kinds of crazy stuff is happening inside. And out of them all, Lithium-ion batteries are the best: they are super rechargeable and reliable.
