Hi, I am a student who is currently amidst boards and competitive exams like jee cuet and others and know that will be going into some research field such as nature, metallurgy, geology or data science with correspondence to nature or data science and aiml with correspondence to finance.
Would a Tab suit me better or a Laptop?
And also what will be the best time to buy it at its cheapest of prices?
I think a tablet is really a good option over the laptop. Although their is no comparison between the two, as one use android/apple os while other use windows os. But, I would prefer a tablet due to the following reasons,
1. Compact size of tablet as compared to a laptop. 2. Today, tablets can run any apps you want. Even Excel or ppt or Word, etc. are easily available with Google. 3. Better battery backup as comparison to a laptop. 4. Easy to carry then a laptop. It's less heavy than a laptop. 5. Better sound output as compared to laptop at same price. I have s7 plus tablet, and it's amazing compared to my laptop, in terms of display and sound output. 5. Display, if you go for higher end tablets, then you can get an amoled display. Even if it's not an amoled, Samsung's normal display also looks pretty good.
Final verdict Final decision is yours but I would recommend a Tablet over laptops, even if you go for a budget tablet. *try to buy a Samsung tablet, others are value of money but don't provide that much features comparison to One UI.
Any time you can go for a laptop as it provide more usefulness in comparison to a tablet. And there is no perfect time for buying these kind of things, solely depends on requirement. I don't recommend flipkart, amazon or any third party websites at all for buying expensive electronics(more than 20000/-). You can prefer the device official website or official store to buy these kind of things. As a Postdoc student my go to laptop was Galaxy book 3, i5 -U series (got it for around 42000/- with sbi card. Recently upgraded to Galaxy book 4 pro 360, Core Ultra 7.
So as a student, laptop is a better option than a tablet.(in my personal opinion). So just find a laptop with 12 or 13 gen H series processor with windows 11 which will cost you less and give you good performance in comparison to a tablet for a long period of time.

Media consumption: For casual activities like watching videos, reading ebooks, and browsing the web, a tablet can be a convenient choice.
Battery life: Tablets often have longer battery life than laptops.
And yes if you buy a laptop then keep it in mind that what ever you buy, please please donot buy a laptop with hard drive as primary only go for ssd laptops.
So just review your requirements and buy it whatever suits you....
