Copying from tablet to USB

Hi, I am trying to copy a video from my tablet to a USB using OTG cable. Copying is no problem but when I plug the drive into my DVD player or TV it says video codec not supported. What am I doing wrong?

The codec is the problem and it might not be supported by the DVD player

Same.. some codecs don't play well with the media players
