SmartThingsHello Samsung Community 👋
I want to share an idea that could make Galaxy phones far more secure in case of loss or theft.
When a phone is stolen, the first thing thieves usually do is switch it off, making tracking impossible. My suggestion is to allow phones to periodically send encrypted location signals (for example, every 10, 30, or 60 minutes) even after being switched off.
This can be done using a small low-power chip (Bluetooth/UWB) that remains active while the rest of the phone stays off. It would use very little battery and could work until the battery fully drains.
Of course, it should be optional — users could disable it or change the update interval if they prefer.
✅ Key benefits:
Greatly increases recovery chances for stolen or lost devices.
Minimal battery usage.
Keeps user privacy intact through encryption.
Could integrate easily with SmartThings Find and “Send Last Location.”
This feature would make Samsung the leader in smartphone security innovation and give users much more confidence in protecting their devices.
What do you all think? Would you support this feature?
