Why WhatsApp take so much storage

It takes 5.85 gb in my phone. Its to much and phone is now 83 percent space. What is wrong.

WhatsApp takes 100mb something and dual take 5gb. what to do?

go to settings in whatsapp
settings >storage >manage storage
and check Whose chat is taking up the most space

not too much in chat but from nowhere it is taking space
