Samsung Pay has swipe up to wake the screen which is similar to double tap to wake up. In S6/S7 edge and S8 you can swipe the sides of the screen for edge feed and wake up the screen. Why not samsung implement this Swipe feature on all models to wake the screen?
If Double tap wakeup has patent issues (though S8 uses it) then I suggest Samsung to implement Swipe to wakeup as an alternative.
Thank you for sharing your concern and feedback. We would like to inform you that smart wake-up feature is available in your device by which you can wake up your device screen with palm swipe. In order to activate this feature, known as "Gesture wake up," navigate to Settings -> Accessibility -> Dexterity and interaction -> Gesture wake up. Make sure to toggle it on.
