Samsung Galaxy is yet to be launched, while it looks like, Samsung already has plans for the Galaxy S25 series flagships. According to the latest leak, Samsung is planning to introduce in-display power and volume buttons using software, starting Galaxy S25 series.
According to the latest leak (via @OreXda), the South Korean tech giant is planning to remove the physical buttons of the upcoming smartphones which will include both volume adjustment buttons and side key (power button) by enabling the same through display edges.
The tipster further revealed that the change won’t apply either with the Galaxy S23 or the Galaxy Z Fold 5/Flip 5, however, the OEM has planned to adopt this technology with the Galaxy S25 flagships or customized variants of Korea Telekom, which could launch sometime in early 2025.
At present, smartphone vendors usually bring just three physical buttons with most smartphones including two for volume increment and decrement, and the third for power on or off. It’s expected that the technology will be matured in the future and that in-display buttons will replace the physical ones.
In the past, several smartphone makers have tried to remove the physical buttons of smartphones. The Huawei Mate 30 Pro comes first on the list that brought volume control function by touch and slide, keeping the physical power button unchanged.
Moving ahead, Meizu also introduced a non-porous design and used pressure detection technology way back in 2019 to recognize virtual power and volume buttons on both sides, well, the crowdfunding got failed, resulting there was no mass production.
