SIMPLE SOLUTION IS GO TO SETTINGS AND THEN CLICK ON NOTIFICATIONS AND ENABLE THE GMAIL NOTIFICATION TAB....IF THAT DOESNT WORK..TRY TO REINSTALL GMAIL AND THEN SEE WHETHER YOU RECEIVE ANY NOTI......CHERIO

Pull down your notification panel and turn On sync.

Tap and hold on Sync > Google account > Make sure Gmail is turned on.
