Samsung is bringing several new features with the Galaxy S24, and some of those new features will likely come to older Galaxy phones and tablets with the One UI 6.1 update. Some of those features, including new battery health protection measures, were leaked a few days ago. You don't need to wait for One UI 6.1 to use those features.

Access One UI 6.1 battery protection features on phones running One UI 6.0

Yes, you can access One UI 6.1's advanced battery health protection features on your Galaxy phone or tablet running One UI 6.0. As revealed by Sabarinath Panikken (via Tarun Vats), new battery protection features can be activated with the help of a third-party app. You need to download and install the ActivityManager app from the Google Play Store. Then, search for BatteryProtectionActivity in the app and open it. Now, you turn on battery protection and choose from three options: Basic protection, Adaptive protection, and Maximum protection. Remember that the feature is still half-baked and might not work properly in some cases.

As you can see in the image above, the Basic Protection feature lets the battery get charged to 100%, and then the charging stops until the charge level drops down to 95%. Then, charging will start again, and the same process will repeat until your phone or tablet is disconnected from the charger. This is the most basic form of battery health protection.

If you choose the Adaptive Protection option, charging will pause after it reaches 80%, and then it reaches 100% just before you wake up. This feature mostly works during overnight charging scenarios and provides moderate protection. It will start working properly after the device learns your sleeping habits and usage patterns.
