I am experiencing a persistent issue on my Samsung Galaxy Fold while using WhatsApp video calls.
Even with orientation lock enabled in portrait mode, the cover screen rotates automatically during video calls. This makes the call experience inconvenient, especially when I prefer the cover screen in portrait orientation.
Steps I’ve taken to confirm the problem:
Orientation lock is set to portrait.
Auto-Rotate is turned off in Quick Settings.
Both my device software and WhatsApp are updated to the latest versions.
The issue persists across restarts and multiple calls.
From online user discussions, I found that other Galaxy Fold users face the same problem, which suggests this may be a compatibility issue between Samsung’s screen handling and WhatsApp’s video call implementation.
I kindly request your assistance to:
1. Confirm if this issue is known.
2. Investigate and provide a fix in upcoming updates so that orientation lock is respected during WhatsApp video calls.
3. Share any possible temporary workaround until the issue is resolved.
This problem directly impacts the usability of WhatsApp on foldable devices, and resolving it will greatly improve user experience.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to your response.
