See, it could be either keep all these features alive(top bezels required in this case)or if company is going bezeless, then they have to find way to incorporate all these must needed features beneath the display..That's why till date,i preferred HTC boom sound speaker a lot..(having two big size speaker grills top and bottom-brilliant sound).. and your pixel example..

well 3d face scanning is inconvenient. Firstly you have to hold your phone ar a certain angle. move your face etc. So these are the painpoints of the 3d scanner. Im sure that google wont remove the fps may use underscreen fps.
Apple's unlock mechanism was the worst i had used. even after unlocking tou had to slide to unlock your phone. The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor works 95/100 times. I had registered multiple fingerprints and also removed the screen guard. Only disappointment is the animation after unlocking which i feel looks like lagging.

how could you tell it have ever used it . i dont think so you ever used it . i took a test with all these biometric
I used 3d face scanner for a month I find it pretty much easy to use the problem here arises that you have to slide only this is problem
this tech is way more better and secure because it has dot projector and even works on day light because it has the flood indicator . negative reaction upon this tech is the slide to unlock that'll

next about iris scanner which use on daily basis the result was that it also very much easy to use . people made a negative reaction upon this tech
it unlocks in every single situation except the bright light because this scanner lacks the flood indicator

next it fingerprint scanner the 3d one . I used it about two month . it was very convenient. but the problem here was that it unlocks 4/ 10 times

that not true that you have to hold a phone in certain angle to unlock it . it same goes for the iris scanner as well I can unlock both devices without even lifting up to certain angle. just like a normal fingerprint scanner. this is the negative reaction came from the tech reviewer and you fell on their trap

certain level of holding is not required to unlock a phone . why you guys never used these kind of biometric option in a simple way. I never lift the phone in certain angle to unlock it only the registration part required that level of angle rest you can use it with lifting up to certain angle

talking about the situation when i had to unlock my pre ipx. It was inconvenient to unlock in situations like underneath the desk or say bench. it was inconvenient to unlock it during meetings and lectures so i started using 4 digit pin with single numerical. The reason why they removed iris scanner is that it was simply inconvenient and not reliable. My friend with specs had found it useless which never worked for him.
my fingerprint on s10 unlocks almost 95 percent all the time. Initially it was inconvenient but the updates improved it. also may a bit of machine learning. and my thumb got the reflex of unlocking it at the sweet spot.

Their main aim for all these scanner is project soli. Unlocking may be a secondary aim.
