panic mode

Hi Admin,
On the S8 I Set 2 contact numbers to sms in emergency by pressing the power button 3 times. To test this if it works effectively in a emergency situation, I pressed the power button three times as suggested but it doesn't work. The first time you press the power button it goes to power off or sleep or restart mode, then on pressing it the 2nd time it goes back to the home page and then when pressed for the last time it again goes to the power off/restart/ sleep page.
Any inputs how to resolve this, as this phone is used by a lady and s this is a good feature to have in times of crisis.
