Thanks for your query. Fingerprint Sensor recognizes your fingerprints and unlocks the device using registered fingerprint. If your device does not recognize correct fingerprint then it will ask for Backup PIN/Pattern. You can unable this from Main menu >>Setting >>Lock screen and security >>Select lock as per you (Iris, fingerprint, Face recognization, pattern lock)
