Hi

I have a samsung note 8 and would like to be able to connect it to ethernet in the evenings when im at home. Unfortunately the ethernet option is grayed out in connections. Is there a way around this?

If not does anyone know is ethernet supported on any later models with samsung. Ive always used samsung and would like to stick with them if possible

thanks

You have to connect your phone with the ethernet wire using an ethernet adapter. Then only the option will work, otherwise it will be grayed out all the time.

Samsung supports this. It is just greyed out but it'll become active once you connect ethernet using a USB-C to ethernet converter.

Just wanted to comment on this thread since it was relevant to my issue rather than start a new one.

So I just recently purchased a type c ethernet adapter and it works flawlessly on my note 8. I'm even pulling my normal 900mbps+ on my home gigabit internet.

However, when I unplug the adapter and plug in my charger. The phone doesn't recognize that I plugged in the charger. I end up having to reboot my phone to recognize the charger everytime

I tried searching the setting in my phone to anything remotely related to this issue. But nothing. This is my first time googling a solution and this thread popped. Any ideas? Thanks!

Is the type C ethernet adapter from a brand or from a local vendor? At times local vendors uses a different port wires that causes other devices to malfunction.

Maybe you can ask them for a replacement? It could be that it's pins are causing a short circuit within itself? Also try this on another device.

It got really good reviews on Amazon. But I didnt notice anyone talking about how it worked with their phones in my short research on it. It was mainly laptop use. Maybe I need to go back and sift through the reviews and see if anyone reviewed it for their phones.

I may end up having to take your advise and check for a replacement. I really appreciate your quick feedback on this issue. I'll dig into it alittle deeper. The adapter was relatively cheap compared to other brands. So you might be onto my issue.
