This happens most of the times when lighting condition or angle is not right while registering iris. Try again while placing your eyes in the circle shown at the time of iris recognition and keeping it stable and not moving the phone alot for few seconds.

Thank you for reaching out to the Samsung community! We would like to suggest you below steps for better iris recognition. The phone may not recognise your eyes when:
• Something prevents the camera from getting a good view of your irises (e.g. glasses, low eyelids, recent eye surgery, disease, dirt, damage to the camera, or excessive movement).
• The lighting is very different from when you recorded your irises (e.g. direct sunlight). Hold your device about 25-35 cm away from your face with the screen facing towards you.
• Please run your device in safe mode.
• Please do reset your device on factory mode after taking the data backup Via Smart switch and remove the Google account.
• If still issue persists, we would suggest you to visit nearby Samsung Service Centre in order to get your device physically inspected by the service engineer. Please find service centre details in the link provided -http://www.samsung.com/in/support/servicelocation

I registered iris and face recognition in daylight and light was perfect, since then it's working great, even at night time it's too fast now.
