While switching my phone data and applications from my S23 to the new S25, I tried to restore my WhatsApp chats and media files from my old samsung galaxy S23 to the new samsung galaxy S25 but I am facing issue by getting this error message in WhatsApp at the end of the restoration process "Unable to restore your chats from this backup. Do you want to restore your chats from an older backup".
Despite trying several attempts by disabled the two-step verification and uploading a new backup using a new Gmail email, but all attempts, it doesn't work.
Please advise if anyone had the same issue and what is the solution as this very critical to me to lose all the chats and media files.
Then your best option I guess is to try the transfer chat option from. The old device and follow the instructions, i did it on my mom's phones and worked like a charm.
We have identified that WhatsApp developer is aware of this issue with restoring chats on the Galaxy s25 series and they are working on an app patch to fix the situation as soon as possible. So please make sure to keep your device’s app version up to date when it is available.
@Samsung_specialist thanks for the update. I have been facing the same issue while restoring and transferring chats and media from my S23 to S25+ Is there an expected date by when WhatsApp will release the update to fix this issue?
