During the launch of the S25 series on Thursday the 6th of February, I got the chance to "geek out" shortly with Ronald from Samsung regarding a few topics.

One of the topics was the Magsafe compatibility, and it was brought up when he was checking out my S25 Ultra’s skin and Cover. His question to me was “is this case Magsafe compatible?” and I jokingly answered “Yes, since you guys gave us the QI2.1 wireless charging compatibility and forgot to add the magnet to the phone😊

Ronald was going to explain the reason behind that choice, and why Samsung is offering the compatibility to Magsafe through approved 3rd party case manufacturers… but he was surprised that I already knew the answer since last year.

Let’s rewind to January 2024, when the S24 Ultra was released. I pre-ordered the device of course, and at the same time, went to [dbran.com] to order my Grip Case.

Couple of days later, on January 20 -2024,I receive this email from [dbrand]

Hey Human,

According to our records, you’ve pre-ordered a MagSafe-equipped Galaxy S24 Ultra case.

We wanted to reach out to inform you of some important considerations regarding how the MagSafe ecosystem interacts with the S-Pen:

When using a MagSafe-equipped case, you may notice a negligible reduction in S-Pen accuracy (specifically while drawing around the magnetic array). That said, the S-Pen still generally works as expected.

When using a MagSafe accessory, you’re likely to find that the S-Pen has a “dead zone” around the accessory’s magnetic ring. This “dead zone” goes away once the MagSafe accessory has been removed from the case.

In other words, if you intend to use your S-Pen with a MagSafe-enabled case, we would advise removing any MagSafe accessories to ensure the S-Pen behaves as expected.

That said, considering some users may simply want an S24 Ultra case without engaging in the MagSafe ecosystem, we’re now offering a non-MagSafe version of both the Grip Case and Ghost Case for the S24 Ultra.

Back then, i ordered the non-MagSafe one. However this year, I have ordered the Magsafe-Enabled variant, and haven’t faced any issue whatsoever till this moment.

My question to Samsung, which unfortunately i did not have the time or the chance to ask Ronald at the event is, since this does not affect the fingers usage at all, why weren’t the S25 and S25+ models equipped with the magnets? Is it because the Ultra users(S-Pen) will start asking about the reason and make a fuss about a feature missing from the Flagship Ultra model, or another technical reason?

Here’s a more detailed thread from [dbrand] posted online about the compatibility and interference of magnets with the S-Pen.
