Samsung’s latest phone, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, has a new feature called ProScaler that makes its screen look way better than the S24 Ultra’s. Even though both phones have similar screen parts, the magic happens with the smart tech that uses AI to make everything on the screen look amazing.

During a big Samsung event, they showed off how they worked with Qualcomm to make the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip just right for their new phones. This special chip helps the S25 Ultra work better and faster.

ProScaler Technology in the Galaxy S25 Series

ProScaler is a cool trick that makes pictures and videos on your phone look much sharper. It can boost the quality by up to 40% when you zoom in or make things bigger, so everything on your screen is clearer.

How ProScaler Works on the S25 Ultra

The S25 Ultra also uses Samsung’s own tech called mDNIe, which is built right into the chip. This, along with the Galaxy AI, not only makes images look more vibrant but also helps save battery life.

From 720p to Looking Like 1080p

Someone who knows a lot about phones, IceUniverse, did a test to see how good the S25 Ultra screen really is. They compared it to the S24 Ultra by showing three pictures: one from the S25 Ultra at 720p, and two from the S24 Ultra at 720p and 1080p. The results were clear; the S25 Ultra at 720p looks almost as good as the S24 Ultra at 1080p.

Thanks to ProScaler, the S25 Ultra can show HD+ quality that looks like the FHD+ quality on the S24 Ultra, all because of smart tweaks and AI. This big leap in how things look on the screen shows how Samsung is pushing the boundaries with their tech.

Upscaling is a feature that already available in smart TVs since many years. This is not a new technology. A 720p picture,eg., gets upscaled to FHD by pixel interpolation. The software senses the adjacent pixels for picture parameters, colour, hue, saturation, luminance etc and adds more pixel to enhance the picture. Here comes the catch. Upscaled pictures displayed by S25 cannot be viewed on other devices which does not support upscaling. Thus a 720p picture will end up looking 720p on non upscalable devices.

Another marketing trick by Samsung to sell S25 😊
