I got my S25 U today and I noticed a weird issue in WhatsApp calling. During a WhatsApp call if screen gets locked or if I move away from the app, the microphone gets muted. And if I switch back to WhatsApp it is automatically unmuted. I did some online search and found same issue on Samsung US forum for S25. I have tried reinstalling app, changing app privacy and permission settings, battery settings etc. but nothing helps. Is anyone else facing this and any fix available?

FIXED: I saw a new update for WhatsApp in play store. Although it did not mention bug fix for this, I first went to app settings, WhatsApp, cleared cache and data. After that uninstalled app. And then installed whatsapp from play store. After that I checked and WhatsApp mic seems to be working fine now.

May be it's bug. Whatsup may rectify this in next update soon if so.

I run one UI 7.0 beta. No issue as posted. Looks like the stable version introduced the bug in discussion.

sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue with WhatsApp calls on your new Samsung S25 U. This problem, where the microphone mutes when the screen locks or when you navigate away from the app during a call, has been reported by other users as well. It appears to be related to how the device manages app activity in the background, particularly concerning battery optimization settings.

Potential Solutions:

Remove WhatsApp from Sleeping Apps:

Navigate to Settings > Battery > Background usage limits.

Select Sleeping apps or Deep sleeping apps.

If WhatsApp is listed, remove it.

This adjustment has helped other users maintain microphone functionality during calls, even when the screen is off or when switching apps.

Disable Battery Optimization for WhatsApp:

Go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp.

Tap on Battery.

Select Unrestricted or ensure that battery optimization is turned off for WhatsApp.

This ensures that the app remains active in the background during calls.

Check App Permissions:

Navigate to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Permissions.

Ensure that WhatsApp has the necessary permissions, especially access to the microphone.

Clear Cache and Data for WhatsApp:

Go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Storage.

Tap on Clear Cache and Clear Data.

Note: Clearing data will log you out of the app, so ensure you have backed up important messages.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it's possible that the problem is due to a bug within WhatsApp itself. In such cases, staying within the app during calls can serve as a temporary workaround. Additionally, keeping the app updated and monitoring official channels for updates can be beneficial.

If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Samsung Support or WhatsApp Support for further assistance...
