Galaxy SAs spotted by SamsonSirJi/X, One UI 6.1.1 renders weird fingerprint issues on the Galaxy S24 series. Users report that the fingerprint either automatically misinterprets authentication or declines to recognize the pre-applied fingerprint.
Another concern emerged when Samsung Pay didn’t recognize fingerprints. It could also be an issue generated by the app’s software support limitations. It could be resolved by reinstalling the application from scratch.
A user claimed that the fingerprint authentication itself was performed when the phone was in the pocket. After 5 failed attempts, the device restricted fingerprint authentication. The handset could be unlocked using the primary lock method (pin or pattern).
The rollout is in its initial stage, gradually expanding coverage. At the time of writing, the company hasn’t acknowledged the fingerprint problem. If it appears a widespread problem, Samsung may be forced to halt the rollout to address the bug.
Clearing the app’s cache should be tried if the issue is limited to an individual app. For the lock screen, users having affected devices should restart the device. If the issue persists, feedback should be submitted attaching a log file for investigation.
Samsung will push the global One UI 6.1.1 rollout starting September 9. The expansion of Phase II devices is scheduled to commence on September 12. The Galaxy S22 series is set to receive select camera and gallery features this month.

Galaxy SDear Samsung Member,
Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!
We want to inform you that it is our best endeavor to provide you with an impeccable product experience at Samsung. Our products pass through rigorous quality checks which are globally recognized. The issue could occur due to usage and various factors, in case there is any kind of issue then we are always helping our customers to resolve their issues.
As per your inquiry, we would like to inform you that it is a normal behavior of devices that, when the screen comes into contact with clothes or skin and accidental touch protection is enabled on the device, this may lead to certain actions happening automatically. Similarly, if the fingerprint sensor comes into contact with anything unauthorized, it may temporarily fail to recognize the authorized touch but will resume normal functionality after a few minutes.
However, kindly follow the steps to resolve your fingerprint issue.
If your fingerprints fail to unlock the phone while the phone is recharging, remove it from the charger and try again. If you are charging the phone with a charger and data cable from other brands when you use fingerprints to unlock the phone, they may interfere with the fingerprint sensor and cause the recognition to fail.
Clean the fingerprint sensor with a soft cloth. Make sure the fingerprint sensor is dry and free from any debris that may cause the sensor to be unable to recognize the fingerprint.
Remove the current fingerprint and set up the fingerprint again. When you touch the sensor to set up a fingerprint, make sure you set the entire fingerprint, including the outer area of your fingertip. Setting the entire fingerprint area enables successful fingerprint recognition with any grip.
How to remove Fingerprint: Path: Settings> Biometrics and Security> Fingerprints> Fingerprint1> Remove> Remove again to confirm.
How to Set up Fingerprint: Path: Settings>Biometrics and Security> Fingerprints> Fingerprint> Scan your fingerprint> Place your finger on the sensor, then lift it off when you feel a vibration> Continue> Reposition your finger each time to capture the edge of your fingerprint> Done> Fingerprint added successfully.
