Galaxy SSamsung’s Intentionally Damaging S22 Series Through Faulty Updates? – A Serious Consumer Concern
Samsung has been a trusted brand for years, but the recent events surrounding the Galaxy S22 series motherboard failures paint a troubling picture.
My drive link fro detailed information: (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/17Bm9PkKimU7a6c7Cz2644qp5OZFAAxUr?usp=drive_link)
Thousands of S22 users globally have reported sudden, unexplained device failures following the November 2024 update, with symptoms eerily similar to past motherboard failures seen in Samsung’s mid-range F and M series.
Initially, the issue was thought to be a result of poor manufacturing quality or random defects, but the pattern of failures suggests otherwise—pointing toward a deliberate strategy where Samsung is allegedly pushing updates that harm devices conveniently after warranty expiration.
---
1. Suspicious Timing – A Pattern of Malicious Updates?
- November 2024 Update Fallout: Many users who updated to the latest One UI 6.1 (November 2024 update) started facing sudden motherboard failures.
- History Repeating Itself:
- During the initial rollout of One UI 6.1/6.0, the update was quickly rolled back after early S22 users faced similar issues.
- Now, after re-releasing the update, Samsung has not acknowledged the issues, despite a large number of complaints.
- Warranty Expiry Strategy:
- Most S22 devices were purchased in early 2022, meaning warranties expired around early to mid-2024.
- Samsung seems to be targeting out-of-warranty devices with updates that lead to hardware failure, forcing users to either pay ₹35,000+ ($400+) for motherboard replacements or upgrade to a new device.!(Because if you see latest launched S25 and S25+ and almost similar to S22 and S22+ , not to mention ultra which faced series of downgrades in looks and functionality! seriously unless the phone is damaged , why would anyone upgrade to basically same or downgraded device!)
---
2. Samsung’s Response – Silence and Denial
- Ignoring Consumer Complaints: Despite massive reports from users facing the same motherboard issue after the November 2024 update, Samsung has been silent and is denying responsibility.
- Service Center Tactics:
- Samsung service centers are simply telling users to replace the entire motherboard at their own expense, instead of diagnosing the actual problem.
- Many users speculate that only the CPU, UFS storage, or RAM needs reballing or minor repairs, but Samsung refuses to provide targeted repairs.
---
3. A Clear Case of Planned Obsolescence?
This situation raises the question of planned obsolescence, a practice where manufacturers intentionally degrade devices through software updates to push users toward expensive repairs or forced upgrades.
- Other Brands Have Done It Before: Apple was caught deliberately slowing down older iPhones through updates, leading to lawsuits and compensation for affected users.
- Samsung’s History of Faulty Updates:
- The "Green Line" issue affected many flagship Samsung devices, and after consumer outrage, Samsung eventually provided free screen replacements.
- Now, a similar motherboard crisis is unfolding, but Samsung is avoiding responsibility.
---
4. What Should Samsung Do?
Given the overwhelming evidence that the November 2024 update triggered this issue, Samsung must:
✅Acknowledge the issue and provide official communication to affected users.
✅Offer free motherboard repairs or replacements, just as they did for green-line display issues.
✅Investigate whether the problem can be resolved with targeted CPU/Memory/UFS reballing instead of full motherboard replacements.
✅Ensure future updates do not intentionally damage older devices.
✅Also don't just promise 7 years of update gimmick if the phone won't be in working condition just after 2 years of uses!
---
5. Consumers Deserve Better – Demand Action!
It is unacceptable for a premium brand like Samsung to treat its users this way. Samsung must be held accountable for its actions.
If you are an affected S22 user, do not stay silent.
📢Spread awareness, share your experience online, and demand action from Samsung.
📢If necessary, legal options and consumer forums should be explored.
This issue is not just about one phone model—it is about corporate ethics and consumer rights! , may be your device is not affected as of now but be sure the way things are happening , no one is safe!
Samsung, the world is watching. Will you do the right thing?
From a victim of S22+ motherboard issue!
