I bought this phone last week (exynos 990 version) directly from Samsung.

I got to say , it has a very weak battery life and phone gets very hot after few minutes of using the camera / watching YouTube / video call.

Really disappointed with my purchases. I even tried reducing the screen refresh rate , switching on battery optimization, disabling background data consumptions and all the other things that can be done through settings.
But the result is still the same.

 

Why Samsung can't issue an software update to improve system power consumption performance to reduce heating and battery drainage? ( I don't mind an option to reduce the CPU frequency to 50% even, as long above issues can be fixed)

I use S20+ and I didn't get any issue like this.
Moreover, my hotspot is on for around 9 hours!

Yes, initially I was also worried about the battery.
But give your device some time to analyse and adjust to your usage patterns.

Remember, S20+ has been called the best android phone in the world.
Often, people say it's better than even S20 Ultra!

Thing is I cannot use the world's best phone though I purchased it due to battery and heating issue.. 😄

If your unit is ok, then you may be one of those lucky people.

 

Many are suffering this heating and battery issue, it seems.

I didn't knew these issues as I didn't research much before buying.

 

I also thought I was buying the " world's best phone" so why research, this should be better than what i had. That was my original thinking before buying. :(

Bro, don't despair, as it will result in nothing.

Just contact Samsung customer service.
Your phone is in warranty, get it replaced or fixed.

That's what you should do bro.

This is not a device specific issue mate. All most all the S20 users with exynos chipset has this issue.

I have updated software as suggested in many other forums but it has not ptovided relief. Neither from battery drainage (I usually have 100% charge at around 11AM and by 11PM battery is completely drained even though I am not a gamer and very medium user) nor from the overheating of the phone everytime I shoot video or use the phone for 10 mins at a stretch. This is really pathetic looking at the exorbitant price I have paid to get a so called flagship series phone.
