Galaxy S• Samsung began rolling out its highly anticipated One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, to millions of Galaxy devices in South Korea.
• This major software upgrade, which introduces a revamped user interface, enhanced Galaxy AI features, and improved multitasking with features like the Now Bar, is now available for flagship devices including the Galaxy S23 series, S24 FE, Tab S10, Tab S9, Z Fold5, and Z Flip5.
Features and Significance
• Korean users are among the first to experience this update, which promises a smoother, more intuitive experience with redesigned widgets, a simplified home screen, and advanced AI-driven tools like Writing Assist and Drawing Assist.
• The One UI 7e rollout in South Korea marks a significant milestone for Samsung, with the update already reaching devices like the Galaxy S23 series.
Global Rollout Uncertainty
• releases One UI 7 for millions of Galaxy devices in one country, with US and global rollout still uncertain
Enhanced Features for Select Devices
• The Tab S10 and S9 series benefit from optimized multitasking features tailored for larger screens, while the Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 gain exclusive AI enhancements derived from the Galaxy S25 series.
Limited Rollout and Projected Timeline
• However, the update’s availability remains limited to South Korea, leaving users in the US and other global markets in anticipation.
• Samsung’s roadmap indicates that the Galaxy S23 series, S24 FE, and other flagships may not receive One UI 7 globally until May 2025, with potential delays due to regional carrier testing
Rollout Pause Due to Bug
• A brief pause in the rollout earlier this month, caused by a lock screen bug affecting some Galaxy S24 devices in Korea, has made Samsung cautious, particularly with the S23 series.
US Rollout Status
• Samsung started the US rollout for select devices, including the S24 series, Z Fold6, and Z Flip6, beginning on April 10, but the S23 series, S24 FE, Tab S10, and others are still pending.
Phased Rollout Plan
• The company’s phased approach prioritizes flagships, with mid-range devices like the Galaxy A-series slated for June.
Global Rollout Status and User Feedback
• Korean users enjoy One UI 7’s bold new features, the wait continues for millions worldwide.
• Samsung urges users to check Settings > Software Update regularly, but for now, the global rollout remains uncertain, fueling anticipation and impatience in equal measure.
